On seeing a huge number of athletes representing the Kingdom of Bahrain at the biggest Olympic gathering, you will only feel pride and happiness, as their presence is an affirmation of Bahrain’s position on the global sports map, and also clear evidence of what Bahraini athletes have attained, leaving their mark on the global arenas. I am confident that they will be able to handle the responsibility of this participation and will seek to achieve top positions and perform in an honorable manner to raise high, the Kingdom’s name by standing on the crowning podium. They are also capable of embodying the principles of friendship, brotherhood, respect and honorable challenge between their peers from the participating athletes while complying with the rules of the Olympic games and contributing to the principles of sportsmanship in various levels.
This historical participation compels us to talk about the leadership of this march, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, who through his efforts has managed to translate the vision of the wise leadership. This was done by placing policies and plans with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports to promote the movement of youth and sports in the Kingdom, and by providing the appropriate environment for all the Bahraini athletes participating in various sport events. In addition, he stood by their side through all stages which reflects on the athletes and the levels set by them to achieve their aspirations in seizing first positions in foreign participations.
Returning to the Ambassadors of the country, who will represent our precious Kingdom in the 31st summer Olympic Games “Rio De Janeiro 2016 Olympics” in Brazil, we wish the best of luck in representing our beloved country by writing their name in Olympic history with gold, our hearts are with them and we will always stand behind them.
Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa
